For this project I redesigned the branding system for Riddles Elephant & Wildlife Sanctuary, an internationally recognized non-profit organization that ensures the long-term survival of elephants located in Arkansas. I came up with a logo, stationary system, magazine ad, poster, brochure, website, vehicle graphics and merchandise designs for this project.
For the logo, I combined an icon representing Noah’s Ark with combined with icons of mother and child elephants. This combination communicates the organization’s dedication to ensuring the long-term survival of elephants. The colors of the logo represent their forest environment at the sanctuary.
For the organization name, I came up with something a bit shorter and more catchy. Combining the word 'ark' is short for 'Arkansas,' the location of the organization with elephant to become 'elephant ark.' The name also makes reference to the biblical story of Noah’s Ark, in which Noah gathered animals on his boat in pairs of two to ensure the species’ survival through the flood. Each elephant’s journey to the sanctuary could be equated to a journey on Noah’s Ark for survival.
Another element of the branding system is the stylized wave that fades off from blue to white down or across the page. The elephant ark logo is placed on the left hand side of the page to make it appear like it’s just embarked on a journey to the foundation. Because we read left to right we naturally read it this way. The color scheme reflects the forest environment that the elephants live in and water associated with the ark.
