Project 1: Negative Space Pattern
Study
This drawing was the result of an exercise to learn about negative
space. For the drawing I traced around some tools that the
instructor had in class and then filled in the resulting shapes or
'negative space' with patterns that I'd found on objects around
me.

Project 2: Stained Glass Negative
Space Study
This piece was the result of an assignment to study negative space.
I started off by drawing the negative space from a still life of plants,
then cutting out the shapes made by the negative space, and then
coloring and repositioning the shapes in the proper places on
another page. I decided to then use the leftover positive space
paper from the cutouts as a frame to create a stained glass piece
by replacing the white negative spaces with different colored
tissue paper. I created the stained glass look by using fabric
paint on the leftover positive space paper that the colored tissue
paper was glued onto.
