Bringing the Outside in Installation
This piece is the fourth part of a fishing series I carried throughout the course. For this assignment we were to create a piece that included an aerial view and brought the outside in. I took the project literally and brought things from the outdoors inside. In keeping with the fishing theme I arranged rocks, sand and other objects that I found by the Mississippi River, such as fishing line, lures, etc, in the shape of a fish. The resulting installation felt quite spiritual in nature, which is perhaps the essence of fishing as I've come to believe. The spiritual feeling could have also been brought on though a combination of connotations and associations. Unfortunately, this installation was only temporary and could never be identically recreated so all we have is the pictures.
